All we know that Lifelong learning is a part of education development. There are so many ways to develop our education and lifelong learning. On this seminar we learned and discussed about the development of lifelong learning in EU. This is one of the main organization of Lifelong learning. Adult learning is a vital component of the European Commission's lifelong learning policy. It is essential for employability and competitiveness, social inclusion, active citizenship and personal development. The challenge is to provide learning opportunities for all adults, throughout their whole life, especially disadvantaged groups who need them most.
The demand for adult learning is increasing and the Commission is committed to helping all EU countries create adult learning systems characterized by flexibility, high quality, excellent teaching, and the full involvement of local authorities, employers, social partners, civil society, and cultural organizations. The EU's lifelong learning policy has emerged as an overarching educational reform policy intended to address a wide range of issues, including education, employment and competitiveness. The question has been raised as to whether the resulting policy is merely a catch-all concept that can be applied to any needs or whether it is underpinned by a comprehensive concept and strategy.
On our seminar Teacher talked about Lisbon Strategy. The socioeconomic context at the turn of the century, with EU enlargement in process and increasing competitiveness in the global market, imposed activation of the Lisbon Strategy (Council of the European Union, 2000). At a time when economic prospects seemed favorable within EU, while, additionally, there was rising awareness of the cost of 'non-Europe among member states, it became urgent for the European Council in Lisbon to enhance Community policies, setting ambitious goals regarding EU position in the global economic arena and placing LLL at the heart of policies launched to build the most dynamic knowledge economy in the world.
The objectives set by the Lisbon Agenda focus on two closely interrelated parameters to meet the demands of overall development and economic growth:
a) restoring full employment
b) enhancing social cohesion
Nevertheless both of them are strongly mediated by a third variable, accessibility to knowledge throughout lifespan and openness of educational systems. Under this emphatic approach to LLL, three areas of focus were endorsed, related to ensuring the transparency of qualifications, promotion of new basic skills - especially in information technology - and development of local learning centers.
In my opinion Lifelong learning demands us an individual’s desire to build and make our new learning life. When we developing an attitude and participation where we constantly learning and sharing is the only way to succeed in the environment which we live in. There is so many ways at our fingertips which we can take their advantages of to help us learn and accept throughout our life.
